Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Camden, Arkansas, Cardinal Cafe is a charming American breakfast and lunch spot that promises a comforting, home-cooked dining experience. Specializing in classic Southern-style cuisine, this family-owned restaurant brings the warmth and flavors of traditional American breakfast to your plate with genuine Southern hospitality.

Start your morning with their Big Breakfast Plates, where the Ham Steak & 2 Eggs or Chicken Fried Steak & 2 Eggs stand out as hearty, satisfying choices. The eggs are cooked to perfection—fluffy and tender—complemented by savory, well-seasoned ham or a crispy, golden fried steak that delivers a delightful texture contrast. For those seeking classic Southern comfort, the biscuits & gravy are not to be missed. Soft, flaky biscuits drenched generously in rich, creamy sausage gravy offer a warm, flavorful bite that feels like a hug on a plate.

Beyond breakfast, Cardinal Cafe offers an inviting menu of favorites including French Toast with a perfectly crisp exterior and soft inside, savory sausage links, creamy grits, and crispy hash browns that add a satisfying crunch. A side of gravy on any plate enhances the meal with its hearty, homemade taste.

The cozy, welcoming atmosphere enhances the dining experience, making you feel like part of the community. Local touches like Cardinal-themed decor add charm, while the genuine smiles and laughter of the staff and patrons reflect the true Southern hospitality that the cafe cherishes. Visitors often praise the friendly, attentive service, with Amy and other team members frequently noted for their warmth and care.

Customer reviews echo this sentiment, highlighting not only the delicious, homestyle food but also the inviting ambiance. Poetry Bee appreciates the biscuits and gravy for being “warm, flavorful, and filling,” while Brenda T Ellington celebrates the cafe as a “must do” stop for anyone traveling near Camden, calling it “home cooking at its finest.” The consistent positive feedback on service, cleanliness, and food quality underscores Cardinal Cafe’s commitment to an excellent dining experience.

Whether you’re in Camden looking for a nostalgic breakfast or a satisfying lunch, Cardinal Cafe offers a rare gem of genuine flavor and heartfelt hospitality. It’s a place where every meal feels like a comforting embrace, making it a standout destination on Cash Road.

is a nice little spot for breakfast and lunch. The biscuits and gravy are definitely a good choice to start the morning — warm, flavorful, and filling. I also tried the turkey sandwich for lunch, which was pretty good too. The only thing I’d suggest is having more friendly waitresses to make the experience feel more welcoming. Overall, good food and a cozy place to eat!

Mmm escaped my mouth as a hot and heavy breakfast was set before me. Land of Lakes butter instantly became one with grits and toast.  I began to visualize grandpa butchering a winter hog while savoring the smoked bacon . The atmosphere was a little dark as ceiling fans spinned like windmills. The waitress was attentive and brought food in a timely matter. Breakfast is best meal of the day.
